4 Advices for future design leaders...
I was asked "What is your advice as I'm starting a new job as a product designer?" and my answer was focused in 4 main points, and they are not focused only on design career, but in any other field. Here they are..
Listen more, speak less – Focus your efforts on listening to others and understanding the company first before you start judging and challenging your environment. Strong charisma starts with deep understanding.
Be consistent – Success always comes from consistency and doing what you have to do despite of your emotional roller coaster. A secrete advise, company leaders appreciate consistent members than super high performers with inconsistency.
Be professional – Always keep your communication professional, specially in conflicts. You were hired for your experience, then always make sure your experience is listened to but only in a professional manner and based on science, otherwise it might be against you. So learn to be professional.
Give before you take – Don't expect things to change at a glance, you need to burn more of hard work hours to influence your ideas. The more of your achievements be on the table, the stronger your position will be in your negotiations.
Let me know if you have more advices you want to add for those who asked in your comments.
